The Iceman

This summer Michael Shannon will be immortalised in Man of Steel when he battles Superman as the villainous General Zod. Before then though we will be treated to him playing a more true to life bad guy in Ariel Vorman’s The Iceman.

Based on a true story, the film tells the story of notorious Mafia hitman Richard Kuklinsk (Shannon). Responsible for the deaths of at least 100 men, it’s safe to say killing is his business and business is good. When he leaves behind a witness however and starts to cross his bosses he puts his family at risk.

Despite being a stone cold assassin  he’s also a devoted husband and father. When he was arrested in 1986 his family had no idea of the violent double life that Kuklinski had led.

From the trailer, Vorman looks to have crafted an incredibly stylish gangster thriller that although has been getting mixed reviews, the praise for Shannon has been universal.

The film also boasts an impressive cast including Winona Ryder, Chris Evans, Ray Liotta, David Schwimmer and James Franco.

The Iceman is due for release in the UK on the 7th of June.
