Another of the films premiered this year at The Toronto International Film festival was the new film from the up and coming British Director Richard Ayoade.
The Double tells the tale of Simon (Jesse Eisenberg), a young timid man who finds life and the interaction with others very difficult. Overlooked in all aspects of his life and unable to attract the attention of the woman he loves. Just when he thinks he has hit his nadir along comes James to plunge his life into a new hell. James is the physical double of Simon but is the opposite in all other ways.
The film is the sophomore feature for Ayoade. His previous effort Submarine was an exceptional piece of film which left you wanting to see more of his work. With The Double, based loosely on the novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, this looks to be exactly what we get.
The film will be released in 2014.
