Saving Mr Banks trailer

It is a staple for Hollywood to look to the real life stories that informed some of our cultural highlights. Whether it be the biography of an artist or delving into the untold story of an event, we have been presented with a variety of films that veer from the very good to the truly awful. The latest in this long line is the movie Saving Mr. Banks.

The film recalls the events surrounding Walt Disney’s attempts to purchase the rights to make a film of the PL Travers novels of Mary Poppins. Walt had coveted the rights for over twenty years and finally Travers agreed. Certain conditions were attached and the bulk of the film covers the process that Disney followed to satisfy Travers.

A strong cast with Tom Hanks as Walt Disney, Emma Thompson as PL Travers and Colin Farrell as Robert Travers makes the film look like an interesting prospect. The film is released in the UK on 29th November.
