Marvel Phase 3 Movies Announced

black-pantherIf the recent announcement regarding the forthcoming slate of DC character movies wasn’t enough then today’s press release regarding the new Marvel movies will be just for you. At a secret event for press and fans it was announced that there will be nine new films as part of the third phase of the Marvel cinematic universe.Following on the already announced Ant-Man movie will be the previously teased third Captain America film, entitled Civil War which will be released in May 2016. This will feature Iron Man in a story that a lot of Marvel fans have wanted to see on the screen. Dr. Strange follows this in November 2016. Just yesterday Benedict Cumberbatch was cast in the lead role. The second Guardians of the Galaxy movie will be with us in May 2017, closely followed by Thor: Ragnarok in July 2017. Black Panther rounds off the year with a release date in November. Prior to the stand alone film Back Panther will also feature in Civil War.

The first part of Avengers: Infinity War, the third adventure featuring the ensemble will herald the first film of 2018 with a release date in May. It will be followed by Captain Marvel in July and Inhumans in November. Rounding off the slate is the second part of Avengers: infinity War in May 2019.

It is quite a collection of films and it will see Marvel expanding their screen universe and feature even more crossovers. The only downside for me is the omission of a new Hulk movie. The character was arguably the best element of the first Avengers movie and is more than deserving of another solo outing.
