Pinhead is back in the much anticipated tenth Hellraiser film. There was much rumour that the next instalment would be a remake with reports that Clive Barker would be penning the script with a question mark hanging over Doug Bradley’s involvement. Fans of the series may be disappointed to learn that neither man has returned.
Written and directed by Gary J. Tunnicliffe, Hellraiser: Judgment has recast everyone’s favourite Cenobite with Paul T. Taylor. The actor has some big nails to fill but looks to be an improvement upon Stephen Smith Collins who replaced Bradley in Hellraiser: Revelations.
More casual viewers may be shocked to learn that this is the tenth film in the franchise with number four being the last theatrical release. The movies have dipped in quality with each entry as spec scripts were rewritten to shoehorn Pinhead into the plot with Revelations churned out in a matter of weeks so Dimension Films could retain the rights.
Judgment is unlikely to reinvent the wheel but the trailer is enticing and should appeal to hardcore fans. Horror royalty Heather Langenkamp has also been cast in a move that should wet the lips of audiences.
Hellraiser: Judgment will be released via digital and home media platforms on February 13.
