A Fistful Of Dollars Comes Back To Cinemas

Park circus distribution have just announced that a brand new 4K restoration of A Fistful of Dollars will be released in cinemas. The iconic western is fifty four years old and has been hailed as a classic of the genre and the film that really drew international attention to the Italian produced movies that came to be known as spaghetti westerns.

Clint Eastwood was a star of the small screen at the time with his role in US TV’s Rawhide. Going to work on the Italian western was one of the smartest moves he ever made. The film and its loose sequels made his name and cemented his reputation as a film star. The film sees Eastwood play The man with no name, who comes to town looking for a job. What he finds is two rival families vying for control. Seeing an opportunity he plays both off against each other in an attempt to get as much for himself as possible.

A Fistful Of Dollars is one of the early directorial works of Sergio Leone. He too would make his reputation with this film even though initially the director credit was noted as Bob Robertson). It also marks the first time that the director worked with the composer Ennio Morricone. His score for this and subsequent films are regarded as some of the best ever produced.

A Fistful Of Dollars will be in UK cinemas from the 13th of April 2018.
