Glass – First Trailer

What’s the statute of limitations on spoilers? I think with regards to M. Night Shyamalan’s Split it’s safe to say we can now talk about THAT ending. For a director that’s know for his mind-blowing, if not at times farcical twists, Shyamalan played an absolute blinder when it came to his last film. What started as a creepy psychological film about Kevin (James MacAvoy), a man who suffers with dissociative identity disorder, ended with the shock revelation that the film was a secret sequel to his 2000 gritty superhero flick, Unbreakable.

The ending didn’t resonate with everyone as some viewers were confused by Bruce WIllis’s cameo in the final scene. My personal experience was my girlfriend not only wondering why Willis made an appearance, but more perplexed as to why my jaw was on the floor and why I was unable to speak for around 3 minutes. It was a strange atmosphere of shock, awe and bewilderment that no other filmmaker could pull off.

If Unbreakable was a superhero origin story, and Split a supervillian origin equivalent, then the third instalment could only go one way – fight! Glass, named after Samuel L. Jackson’s (spoiler) big evil in Unbreakable, the third part of the Eastrail 177 Trilogy will see David Dunn (Willis) do battle with Kevin’s alter ego, the Beast, and old adversary Mr. Glass. As detractors bemoan superhero fatigue, not enough credit is given to those productions that look to keep the genre fresh, From a first look, and based on the previous chapters, Glass looks to be something special

Starring Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy and Sarah Paulson, Glass will be released on January 18, 2019.
